Snow kiting in the back country is one of the most beautiful aspects of this sport. There are so many beautiful mountains and valleys all over Switzerland which can be ridden in appropriate conditions.

The dangers, weather changes and unforeseen incidents in the high alpine regions can quickly make the adventure go in the wrong direction.

An experienced mountain guide as well as a snow kite guide will accompany you alone or with friends on these very special tours.

For these tours you must be a very experienced snow kiter and you should have experience with ski touring and good physical endurance

On snowkiting tours you need to bring your own touring skis or split snowboard. You should have good skins and poles with you and be able to handle them.

Course information

Meeting place:

Please report to the parking lot of the Kitespot Bernina 5min before the start of the course (unless otherwise agreed upon in advance) - Google Maps Bernina Kitespot

Course fee:

Is to be paid before the start of the course in the kitesurf shop Silvaplana in cash or by card. Outside the shop you can only pay in cash.

Infrastructure at the spot:

  • Silvaplana: Sports center with changing rooms, toilets, showers, kitesurf shop, restaurant and kite lounge
  • Bernina: No accommodation, we drive to a parking lot in the mountains. There are no catering facilities and no toilets

Requirements:

It is important that you have experience in ski touring, good physical condition and equipment. You should be able to handle the soft kite blind.

Bring your own:

Ski touring clothing high alpine, touring skis with skins, telescopic poles, backpack, helmet, avalanche transceiver, food, sunscreen, sunglasses, ski goggles, own kite material if desired

Insurance:

Accident and liability insurance is the responsibility of the participants. Swiss Kitesurf GmbH has a public liability insurance which does not cover kite and ski tours in the mountains. On all tours without a mountain guide, the customer is liable for himself in case of any kind of incident or accident.

Course content:

Tour according to your wishes and the given conditions in the Engadin region. We are happy to make suggestions.

Course schedule:

  • Gathering at the meeting point
  • Put on ski boots, prepare material (if possible before the start of the course)
  • Finalize tour plans with the teacher and gather equipment
  • Walk or ascent with skins to the start area
  • Kite setup, equipment preparation.
  • Free riding, exploring and climbing with your instructor according to your needs, the instructor will guide you during the whole course.
  • Your instructor constantly evaluates the conditions and your skills, he can change or cancel the tour at any time. The instructions of the instructor and mountain guide must be followed.
  • Return to the starting point or drive to the finish
